De HCRA is op gericht in 1982 met als doel de belangen van de leden te behartigen. Toen nog meer dan 40 voornamelijk ambachtsbedrijven waarbij reparatie aan containers de belangrijkste activiteit was. Momenteel bestaat de HCRA uit 14 bedrijven met een gezamenlijk omzet die 4 keer zo groot is als in 1982 (geïndexeerd). “Repair” draagt hierbij slechts in geringe mate aan bij.
